The HSI slid 161 points or nearly 1% to close at 16,224, ending its incline in 2 consecutive days. The HSCEI dropped 57 points or nearly 1% to close at 5,746. The HSTECH lost 78 points or 2.3% to close at 3,278. Total market turnover for the day amounted to $106.153 billion.

Automakers were sold off. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) cratered 7.4%, being the worst performing blue chip, as Morgan Stanley said that Li L6 brought no surprise. XPENG-W (09868.HK) descended 7.4%, while GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) slipped 2.7%, as its intelligent electric drive passed the test of China Automotive Technology & Research Center. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and NIO-SW (09866.HK) faded 2% and 1.8% each, while LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) shed 3%.

SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) receded 4.7% after Goldman Sachs said that its 1Q24 results missed. For other casinos, GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) fell 1.2%, while SJM HOLDINGS (00880.HK), WYNN MACAU (01128.HK), MGM CHINA (02282.HK) and MELCO INT'L DEV (00200.HK) cascaded 1.8-2.6%, respectively.
